The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Pixel Quality Filter (PQF) service is scheduled to be retired this month and will be removed as a service option from NASA’s Reverb and Earthdata Search Client. This service is being retired as it exclusively applied to MODIS Surface Reflectance 8-Day L3 Global 500M (MOD09A1) Version 5 data product, which is no longer being forward processed.

NASA's Land Processes Distributed Active Archive Center (LP DAAC) recommends the following tools to replace the PQF service:

Application for Extracting and Exploring Analysis Ready Samples (AppEEARS): AppEEARS is similar to the PQF service in that it allows users to explore the different levels of quality information in the various data products offered in AppEEARS.

The MODIS Quality Python Toolbox: The MODIS Quality Python Toolbox decodes MODIS Version 6 data in ArcGIS and provides uses with a simple way to interact with science datasets (SDS) and quality assurance (QA) SDS layers.
