The TROPOMI instrument was co-funded by ESA (European Space Agency) and the Netherlands, and is a space-borne, nadir-viewing, imaging spectrometer covering wavelength bands between the ultraviolet and the shortwave infrared. TROPOMI is the single payload aboard ESA's Sentinel-5P spacecraft and measures the solar radiation reflected by and radiated from Earth. The instrument operates in a push-broom configuration (non-scanning), with a swath width of approximately 2,600 km on Earth’s surface. The typical pixel size (near nadir) is 7x3.5 km2 for all spectral bands, with the exception of the ultraviolet 1 (UV1) band (7x28 km2) and shortwave infrared (SWIR) bands (7x7 km2).
