The Cyanobacteria Assessment Network (CyAN) is a multi-agency project among NASA, NOAA, USGS, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to support the environmental management and public use of U.S. lakes and estuaries by providing a capability to detect and quantify cyanobacteria algal blooms.
This effort has resulted in the production of satellite remote sensing products using the cyanobacteria index (CI) algorithm to estimate cyanobacteria concentrations (CI_cyano) in lakes across the contiguous United States and Alaska.
The CyAN File Search tool was co-developed by NASA's Ocean Biology Distributed Active Archive Center (OB.DAAC) to provide users with access to cyanobacterial bloom satellite data.
