NASA’s National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) is migrating the snow and ice data it distributes to NASA's Earthdata Cloud. Working with data in the cloud can seem daunting, but it doesn’t need to be! In this webinar, we will demonstrate two straightforward workflows for accessing cloud-based data.

The first workflow will show how to easily find cloud-hosted data of interest from the NSIDC DAAC website and then copy those files from their Amazon Web Services (AWS) Simple Storage Service (S3) bucket to an Elastic Cloud Computing (EC2) instance. This workflow is ideal for getting to know the cloud by interacting with a few files on the command line.

The second workflow uses the earthaccess Python library to easily search for, access, and stream data in the cloud—an ideal workflow if you are working with large volumes of data in R or Python.
