ESDIS Weekly Metrics: October 5, 2026

Image

Note: The spike in distribution is mainly due to the download of three GEDI products: GEDI02_A, GEDI02_B, and GEDI_L4C_WSCI_V3_2520.

Note that higher product latencies for:

  • VIIRS-SNPP-Land on September 27 and October 3, 2026, were due to delays in L0 data.
  • VIIRS-SNPP-Atmosphere on October 2, 2026, were due to an upstream delay.
  • VIIRS-NOAA-20-Atmosphere on September 30 and October 3, 2026, were due to a planned outage and the permanent end of distribution for an ancillary product.

Note that higher product latencies for TROPOMI-SENTINEL-5P on September 27-28 2026, were due to intermittent connection problems.

Notes:

  1. Latency for a data granule is defined as the time taken from the midpoint between the start and end of acquisition of the data to the granule being ready on-line for users to download.
  2. Duration covered by the data for a granule is defined differently for four different instruments (e.g., MODIS granules are 5 minutes long, while OMI NRT granules are 13 to 136 minutes long).
  3. Over the past four weeks, more than 95% of near-real time (NRT) data requests for nearly all instruments were satisfied within 3 hours. The exceptions were MLS-AURA, OMPS-NOAA-21, TROPOMI-SENTINEL-5P, VIIRS-NOAA-20-Land, VIIRS-SNPP-Land and VIIRS-SNPP-Atmosphere, which had rates of 93%, 60%, 88%, 93%, 77%, and 93%, respectively, of NRT data requests being satisfied within 3 hours.
