The April 2025 analysis of extremes using Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) temperature data and Integrated Multi-satellitE Retrievals for Global Precipitation Measurement (IMERG) rainfall data has been published. One of the notable events causing a large anomaly was that regions of the Atacama Desert of northern Chile observed rainfall accumulations as high as ~130 mm over the course of April, well above the 5 mm per year average.
