NASA's Earthdata team at the Global Hydrometeorology Resource Center has released the Australian Lightning Mapping Array (AUSLMA) Version 1 and Australian Lightning Mapping Array Raw Data (AUSLMARAW) Version 1 datasets from the IGNIS mission. AUSLMA was deployed as part of the joint U.S.-Australia IGNIS campaign to study lightning and wildfire processes.

These datasets provide observations of total lightning collected by a Lightning Mapping Array (LMA), a ground-based network that detects and geolocates very high frequency (VHF) lightning emissions in three dimensions. These data support validation of the Lightning Imaging Sensor (LIS) aboard the International Space Station, the Geostationary Lightning Mapper (GLM) on NOAA weather satellites, future lightning observing systems, and convection-resolving weather models used to predict lightning activity.

The datasets contain observations collected from September 23, 2025, through August 7, 2026, and are distributed in ASCII format.
