On September 13, 2018 CALIPSO will begin lowering its orbit from 705 km to 688 km to resume formation flying with CloudSat. The sequence of maneuvers are expected to take about a week and the payload instruments will be turned off (Cloud-Aerosol Lidar with Orthogonal Polarization (CALIOP), Imaging Infrared Radiometer (IIR), and Wide Field Camera (WFC)) . Normal science operations are anticipated to begin in late September with public data availability around October 10, 2018.
