NASA's Global Hydrometeorology Resource Center Distributed Active Archive Center (GHRC DAAC) has released the G‑III High Altitude Lidar Observatory (HALO) WHyMSIE Version 1 dataset. The product contains airborne lidar observations collected from NASA's Gulfstream III (G-III) aircraft during the Westcoast and Heartland Hyperspectral Microwave Sensor Intensive Experiment (WHyMSIE) field campaign.

HALO provides profiles of atmospheric water vapor, along with aerosol and cloud optical properties, enabling characterization of atmospheric composition and planetary boundary layer conditions. These observations support the validation of hyperspectral microwave retrievals and advancement of next-generation remote-sensing techniques.

Version 1 represents the initial public release of HALO measurements from WHyMSIE, creating a baseline record that can be used alongside other campaign datasets and future observations to support cross-sensor analyses and continuity of planetary boundary layer research. The release includes eight granules in HDF5 format and spanning October 27 to November 15, 2024.
