NASA’s Physical Oceanography Distributed Active Archive Center (PO.DAAC) released the Group for High Resolution Sea Surface Temperature (GHRSST) Level-2P NOAA MSG01/02/04 Sea Surface Temperature (SST) v1.0 datasets.
This release comprises three L2P SST v1.0 datasets derived from the Spinning Enhanced Visible and Infrared Imager (SEVIRI) sensor on Meteosat Second Generation (MSG) Satellites -1, -2, and -4 by the NOAA Office of Satellite and Product Operations (OSPO). The MSG-1, -2 and -4 are also known as Meteosat-8, -9, and -11. The MSG L2P SST provides a full disk SEVIRI imagery on the native swath grid at approximately 3 km resolution with a 15 minute duty cycle. Both MSG01 and MSG02 cover the Indian Ocean region from the position at 45.5°E longitude, while MSG04 (and MSG03, published) cover the Atlantic Ocean region from the position at 0.0°E longitude. The three SST measurements provide the temporal coverage from Sept. 18, 2018, to June 1, 2022; June 11, 2022, to the present; and Sept. 10, 2018, to March 24, 2023, for MSG01, 02, and 04 respectively. They are formatted in netCDF and fully compliant with GHRSST Data Processing Specification (GDS) version 2.0.
The datasets are described and discoverable via the dataset information pages. Users are encouraged to download the data with podaac-data-subscriber.
