Due to an anomaly that occurred on the Suomi NPP satellite platform at 0145 Universal Time (UTC) on June 1, 2026, standard and near-real time (NRT) VIIRS data are unavailable and will remain so until further notice.
Update on June 12, 2026: As of 16.00 UTC on June 10, 2026, the new SNPP Look-Up Tables (LUTs) from the calibration team went into use in the NRT system. Therefore, data from June 12 onward are of good quality and considered safe for use.
Update on June 11, 2026: The calibration team has approved the use of standard and near-real time (NRT) VIIRS data as of 12:00 UTC on June 10, 2026.
Update on June 5, 2026: The standard product processing remains on hold until new lookup tables (LUT) based on the post-anomaly data are provided by the VIIRS Calibration/Validation team. At this time, we do not have an estimated resolution date. We will update this notice as soon as the issue is resolved and standard data distribution resumes.
Update on June 3, 2026: We started receiving Suomi NPP science data again at 15:06 UTC on June 2, and NRT processing has resumed. Users are advised to exercise caution while using S-NPP data products as the instrument Calibration/Validation teams assess data quality.
