On September 1, 2025, NASA's National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) will cease updates to the AMSR-E/AMSR2 Unified datasets. This change follows the end of data processing and delivery by the NASA Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer 2 (AMSR2) Science Investigator-led Processing System (SIPS). No further updates or reprocessing of AMSR Unified data products will occur beyond this date. Users who rely on automated workflows to retrieve new AMSR Unified data should be aware that these workflows will no longer function after September 1, 2025.
All AMSR Unified data archived at NSIDC DAAC prior to this date will remain available for search and download. Users can access these datasets and their associated documentation at NSIDC DAAC.
Level-1B, -1R, -2, and -3 AMSR2 data, along with upcoming AMSR3 data (scheduled for launch in FY2025), will continue to be provided by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). Users needing continued access to new AMSR2 data are encouraged to explore distribution options through JAXA.
Please contact NSIDC User Services with any questions or concerns.
