Updates to Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer 2 (AMSR2) near real-time (NRT) datasets will cease on September 1, 2025. After this date, the NASA AMSR2 Science Investigator-led Processing System (SIPS) will stop processing and delivering updates to these datasets.
If you currently utilize automated workflows to access new AMSR2 NRT data, please note these workflows will cease to function after this date. Additionally, existing AMSR2 NRT granules will continue to age-off per their usual cadence. NASA's National Snow and Ice Data Center Distributed Active Archive Center (NSIDC DAAC) archives and distributes standard (non-NRT) AMSR2 data products. All AMSR Unified data archived at NSIDC DAAC prior to September 1, 2025, will remain accessible. We invite users needing access to historical AMSR2 data after September 1, 2025, to make use of the data and documentation for all AMSR Unified products archived at NSIDC DAAC: Level-1B, -1R, -2, and -3 AMSR2 data, and forthcoming AMSR3 data (scheduled for launch FY2025), will continue to be produced by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
For users who need continued access to new AMSR2 data, we encourage exploring access options through JAXA. Please reach out to NASA's Global Hydrometeorology Resource Center DAAC (GHRC DAAC) User Support with any questions or concerns.
