Starting at 05:42 UTC on July 28, 2026, NOAA-21 experienced data anomalies that affected Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) M14-M16 and I5 Long Wave Infrared (LWIR) data. We encourage users to exercise caution when using JPSS-2 data collected between 05:42 UTC on July 28 and 20:10 UTC on July 29. Additionally, please note that there is a data gap from 16:42 UTC to 18:18 UTC on July 29.

Update on July 31, 2026: Following a review by the calibration/validation teams, the data from July 28, 2026, onward has been verified to be of good quality and presents no concerns for users. However, a data gap still exists from 16:42 UTC to 18:18 UTC on July 29, 2026.
