NASA's Land Processes Distributed Active Archive Center (LP DAAC) announced the availability of the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Version 2 Leaf Area Index (LAI) and Fraction of Photosynthetically Active Radiation (FPAR) product suite. The VIIRS Version 2 release includes data products from both the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (Suomi NPP) satellite and NOAA-20 satellite which was previously called Joint Polar Satellite System-1 (JPSS-1). This release covers the joint mission period from year 2018 up to the leading edge. Details on product improvements for Version 2 are provided on the digital object identifier (DOI) landing page. The Suomi NPP VIIRS Version 1 LAI/FPAR data product will remain available and will continue with forward processing alongside the Version 2 products.
