Description
The University of Bergen: Bismuth-Germanium Oxide detector (UIB-BGO) dataset consists of gamma-ray counts to monitor transient luminous events and gamma-ray glows collected during the Airborne Lightning Observatory for Fly’s Eye Geostationary Lightning Mapper Simulator and Terrestrial Gamma-ray Flashes (ALOFT) field campaign. UIB-BGO is a gamma-ray detector package that flew aboard the NASA ER-2 high altitude research aircraft and provided real-time downlink of gamma-ray counts. ALOFT aimed to study terrestrial gamma-ray flashes (TGFs) and gamma-ray glows in thunderstorms and to validate observations from the International Space Station Lightning Imaging Sensor (ISS LIS) and the Geostationary Lightning Mapper (GLM). Data files are available from July 3, 2023, through July 29, 2023, in ASCII format.
