Description
The GPM Ground Validation Two-Dimensional Video Disdrometer (2DVD) GCPEX dataset was collected by the Two-Dimensional Video Disdrometer (2DVD) data, which was collected during the GPM Cold-season Precipitation Experiment (GCPEx) held in Ontario, Canada. GCPeX occurred in Ontario, Canada during the winter season of 2011-2012. GCPEx addressed shortcomings in the GPM snowfall retrieval algorithm by collecting microphysical properties, associated remote sensing observations, and coordinated model simulations of precipitating snow.Collected from six sites, the data contains daily ascii files with information on individual snowflakes and hydrometeors, and binary files preprocessed from raw camera data. Overall data dates range from 27 October 2011 through 27 February 2012 depending on the specific site.
