Background
The Satellite Needs Working Group (SNWG) community requested discovery and access to commercial data through NASA’s Earthdata Search web interface. This would serve to consolidate the discovery of remote sensing data provided by various vendors to the United States (U.S.) government.
Status
Currently in Development, but Some Data are Available Now
This activity is implemented through the Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition (CSDA) program. Agencies will be able to discover both NASA and commercial remote sensing data with the same Earthdata Search tool and will be able to download subject to the terms of the End User License Agreement (EULA). This will provide U.S. government agencies discovery and access to both NASA's commercial data holdings and NASA funded data using the Earthdata.nasa.gov interface. Additional commercial data is available through the CSDA Satellite Data Explorer.

Societal Impact
Improved access to data products from commercial systems, reduced latency acquisitions, and improved derivation of new research and operational products will enable new opportunities for research and applications across thematic areas.
