NASA's Global Hydrology Resource Center Distributed Active Archive Center (GHRC DAAC) is developing an information system to manage and better serve field campaign data. One of the components of the system is the Field Campaign Information Explorer tool that supports search and discovery of airborne science data with interactive visual exploration.

Through this new tool, information and reports collected during the mission including flight information, instrument status, weather reports, and summary statistics are used to provide critical information about the science data.

Key features and functionality of this tool are:

  • Visual playback of mission flights -This playback capability allows users to follow the flight in time and visualize collected data and other supplementary information. The flight summary and analyzed information are also presented during the playback.
  • Ability to visually subset and order data viewed in playback from GHRC DAAC.
  • Tool currently focuses on Hurricane and Severe Storm Sentinel (HS3) mission data. * Future development includes ability to address future airborne missions.

During the webinar, we will take you on a tour of this tool, focusing on the HS3 mission data as the use case, highlighting its many capabilities.
