In May, the Australian city of Taree received more than two feet of rain in a span of four days, flooding farms, businesses, and homes across the region. To aid communities in the aftermath of the floods, NASA satellite data was used to create a near real-time (NRT) global flood product, which is then used to generate interactive flood imagery in NASA Worldview. These interactive flood maps enable communities to identify where the floods hit hardest, and when referenced against NASA's global population data, what affected areas were most populated.
