Nominate an Impactful Dataset With AGU

When you think of an impactful Earth science dataset, what comes to mind? The American Geophysical Union (AGU) is looking for your input.

For decades, Earth science data collections have been used to locate wildfires in remote areas, assess flooding and vegetation change, and study our planet from the atmosphere to the geosphere. These collections have provided accurate, insightful, and timely data that have revolutionized humanity’s understanding of how our planet functions. Now, AGU wants to highlight datasets like these that have had a big impact on its community. To do so, AGU has put out a call to nominate datasets for recognition in one of the organization’s journals, and potentially, a special collection as well.

AGU is requesting nominations for datasets important to the study and understanding of Earth, space, and environmental science on dimensions of people, planet, and prosperity. This includes datasets used for research, policy-making, analysis, activities around environmental disasters, conservation, and other efforts. You can nominate more than one collection, and if your nomination is selected, you’ll be included as a contributor to a journal commentary about the data.

Read the call for nominations application for more details on dataset requirements and the selection process. Nominations for datasets are due by Oct. 10, 2025.
