Cyclones Asani and Karim

Image captured on 9 May 2022 by the VIIRS instrument aboard the joint NASA/NOAA Suomi NPP satellite.

True-color corrected reflectance image of two cyclones, Cyclone Asani in the Bay of Bengal and Cyclone Karim in the southern part of the Indian Ocean, on 9 May 2022. This image was acquired by Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS), aboard the joint NASA/NOAA Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (Suomi NPP) satellite. The two cyclones are spinning in opposite directions north and south of the equator. This similar occurrence is visible in imagery from April/May 2019 with Cyclone Fani and Cyclone Lorna
