The Land Processes Distributed Active Archive Center (LP DAAC) announces an expansion of the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Version 2 Water Reservoir Data Products. This VIIRS Version 2 release includes data products from the NOAA-21 satellite, which was previously called Joint Polar Satellite System-2 (JPSS-2).
Launched in November 2022, the NOAA-21 platform capitalizes on the success of the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (Suomi NPP) and NOAA-20 platforms. NOAA-21 features four similar instruments that take measurements related to atmospheric composition; the carbon cycle, ecosystems, and biogeochemistry; weather and climate; and the water and energy cycles.
