The Land Process Distributed Active Archive Center (LP DAAC) announced the release of four updated Terra+Aqua combined Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Version 6.2 Downward Shortwave Radiation (DSR) and Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) data products. These products are produced daily with estimated DSR and PAR values every 3 hours and are provided at 1000 meter (m) and 0.05 degree (~5600 m) spatial resolutions. Version 6.1 Radiation data products will remain available during this transition.
Improvements introduced in Version 6.2 include:
- MODIS shortwave infrared bands are now included in the retrieval algorithm, significantly reducing estimation uncertainties in cloud- and snow-covered pixels.
- Improved climatology of surface reflectance was produced and used in the retrieval algorithm.
