NASA's Global Hydrometeorology Resource Center Distributed Active Archive Center (GHRC DAAC) has released the NASA Short-term Prediction Research and Transition (SPoRT) Land Information System (LIS) Version 1 dataset. The product provides observation-driven Noah Land Surface Model outputs for the continental United States in both historical reanalysis and near-real-time modes.

SPoRT LIS delivers high-resolution soil moisture and related land-surface variables used for drought monitoring, flood risk assessment, weather prediction, and environmental decision support. The dataset combines model simulations with assimilated environmental observations to provide consistent land-condition estimates across space and time.

Version 1 establishes a public archive of SPoRT LIS products spanning the 1981 to 2013 climatology period and continuing through operational updates. This release improves access to a long-term, continuously updated land-surface record that supports hydrologic and climate applications.
