VIIRS Version 2 Downward Shortwave and Photosynthetically Active Radiation Data Products Released

NASA's Land Processes Distributed Active Archive Center (LP DAAC) has released the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Version 2 Downward Shortwave Radiation (DSR) and Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) Data Products. VIIRS Version 2 includes data products from both the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (Suomi NPP) satellite and the NOAA-20 satellite, which was previously called Joint Polar Satellite System-1 (JPSS-1). Included in the VIIRS DSR products are variables for instantaneous total, instantaneous direct, and instantaneous diffuse DSR at VIIRS overpass, as well as 3-hour DSR, daily mean DSR, and quality flag. VIIRS PAR products variables include instantaneous total, instantaneous direct, and instantaneous diffuse PAR at VIIRS overpass, as well as 3-hour PAR, daily mean PAR, and quality flag.

A total of eight data products listed below are included in this release.
