NASA Earthdata and the Global Hydrometeorology Resource Center Distributed Active Archive Center (GHRC DAAC) have published the WB-57 Meteorological and Navigation (METNAV) TC4 Version 1 dataset for public access.
This dataset contains meteorological and navigation information collected aboard NASA's WB-57 high-altitude research aircraft during the Tropical Composition, Cloud, and Climate Coupling (TC4) field campaign. The dataset includes aircraft position, altitude, heading, meteorological observations, and other navigation parameters recorded throughout mission operations.
TC4 was conducted during July and August 2007 over portions of Central America, the eastern Pacific Ocean, and the Caribbean region. These observations provide the flight context required to interpret airborne instrument measurements acquired during the campaign and support studies of tropical convection, clouds, atmospheric composition, and climate processes.
This release preserves and improves access to a valuable historical airborne record from TC4. The METNAV dataset serves as a foundational reference for researchers working with other TC4 airborne observations because it provides the temporal and spatial framework necessary to locate aircraft-based measurements and reconstruct flight operations.
