The Precipitation and Imaging Probe (PIP) is an airborne optical spectrometer manufactured by Droplet Measurement Technologies. PIP measures concentration and records images of cloud particles from approximately 500-30000 microns in diameter with a resolution of 100 microns per pixel.
Delivery of Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (Suomi NPP) satellite data products will cease on November 1, 2026. Data users should transition now to alternative products from NOAA-21 and NOAA-20.
