Description
Monsoon rains can have an enormous impact in Southern Asia. While the rains can help agriculture, it can also cause extreme flooding. Satellite data can augment decision support for flood warnings, responses, relief, and mitigation activities. This two-day training led by NASA's Applied Remote Sensing Training Program (ARSET) covered access and use of satellite imagery and data to inform flood-related decisions.
Attendees learned how to track and map flooding, assess affected areas, and integrate satellite data into their own decision-making processes. This training was a pre-conference event for the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) Technical Commission V Symposium on Education & Outreach - Geospatial technology – Pixel to People.
