Los Angeles Wildfires Disrupting DAAC Operations and Data Access

NASA's Physical Oceanography Distributed Active Archive Center (PO.DAAC) and Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) are experiencing operational outages that may affect data processing.

The wildfires, high winds, power outages, and evacuations in the Los Angeles area have led to operational disruptions for the Physical Oceanography Distributed Active Archive Center (PO.DAAC) and its website. Likewise, Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) and Sentinel-6a data flow may be disrupted during this emergency.

NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, has also been evacuated. As a result, near real-time (NRT) and standard Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) and Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS) data are not being processed.

As an alternative, users can still find NASA Earth science data products and other datasets through Earthdata Search.

For more NRT data and information about the Los Angeles fires and other wildfires around the world, visit NASA's Fire Information for Resource Management System (FIRMS) and Earth Observatory Natural Event Tracker (EONET).
