Image of fires in the Okavango Delta, Botswana on 17 June 2018. This false-color corrected reflectance image (Bands M11-I2-I1) was captured by the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) aboard the joint NASA/NOAA Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (Suomi NPP) satellite.
Vegetation is green in this false-color image of the Okavango Delta and areas where vegetation has burned are brown. Fire/Thermal anomalies are overlain on the image and shown as red points. Watch an animation of the fires progressing.
