Fires and Smoke in the Okavango Delta, Botswana
Image captured on 17 March 2019, by the MODIS instrument, aboard the Aqua satellite.
Image of fires and smoke in the Okavango Delta, Bostwana, acquired on 17 March 2019 by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument, aboard the Aqua satellite.
Compare two different band combinations from the same day to see how differing band combinations can be used to highlight different features in the imagery. In this example, on the right is MODIS Bands 7-2-1 corrected reflectance imagery which can be used to highlight burn scars (shown in red) and MODIS true-color corrected reflectance imagery on the left highlights the smoke emanating from the fires, the left side also shows the active fire points overlaid on the image as red dots.
