Tropical cyclones in the Arabian Peninsula are rare, and Tropical Cyclone Chapala is one of the strongest—if not the strongest—to ever hit this region. Portions of Oman and Yemen could receive the equivalent of several years’ worth of rain as this storm makes landfall over the next two to three days. As of November 2, the storm is moving west at about 17.5 km/hr (11 mph) with maximum winds of 193 km/hr (120 mph) and gusts of 241.5 km/hr (150 mph).
