The ALTUS II was an uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) manufactured by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. The ALTUS II had a maximum altitude of up to 60,000 ft, a maximum flight duration of around 24 hours, and a payload capacity of about 330 lbs. Its slow flight speed and long duration made it ideal for research missions studying thunderstorms.
