The C-130 Hercules is a four-engine turboprop aircraft. Multiple agencies own and operate a C-130, including both NASA and the National Science Foundation (NSF)/National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR). The C-130 has a maximum duration of 10 hours and can reach altitudes of up to 25,000 ft. Different models have different payload capacities, ranging from 13,000 lbs to around 20,000 lbs.
