Landsat 9 continues the Landsat program’s critical role of repeat global observations for monitoring, understanding, and managing Earth’s natural resources and extends the Landsat program’s record of land imaging to over half a century. With a design very similar to Landsat 8, Landsat 9’s build and launch were expedited to reduce the risk of a Landsat data gap.
