The Atmospheric Science Data Center (ASDC) has released data for the Convective Processes Experiment – Cabo Verde (CPEX-CV) campaign. CPEX-CV took place in September 2022, and operated out of Sal Island, Cabo Verde with the primary goal of investigating atmospheric dynamics, marine boundary layer properties, convection, the Saharan Air Layer, and their interactions across various spatial scales to improve understanding and predictability of process-level lifecycles in the tropical East Atlantic region. The NASA DC-8 aircraft was deployed with remote sensing instruments and dropsondes that allowed for the measurement of tropospheric aerosols, winds, temperature, water vapor, and precipitation. Measurements from CPEX-CV will assist in moving forward from previous CPEX and CPEX-Aerosol & Winds (AW) missions, the calibration and validation of satellite measurements, and the deployment of airborne sensors. Datasets distributed by the ASDC includes DAWN, HALO, dropsonde, in-situ cloud probes and corresponding merge files. Additional datasets can be found at the Global Hydrometeorology Resource Center (GHRC).
We are in the process of migrating all NASA Earth science data sites into Earthdata from now until end of 2026. Not all NASA Earth science data and resources will appear here until then. Thank you for your patience as we make this transition.
