NASA’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory Distributed Active Archive Center (ORNL DAAC) released new datasets and data files for the Geological Earth Mapping Experiment (GEMx). GEMx data products were collected during deployments of the following facility instruments: Airborne Visible/InfraRed Imaging Spectrometer - 5th Generation (AVIRIS-5), Airborne Visible/InfraRed Imaging Spectrometer - Classic (AVIRIS-C), and the MODIS/ASTER Airborne Simulator (MASTER).

These data provide airborne remote sensing products comprising georeferenced, calibrated radiance, and orthocorrected surface reflectance across visible, shortwave infrared, and thermal infrared wavelengths. Additionally, they provide derived and auxiliary products, including land surface temperature, spectral emissivity, greenhouse gas enhancements (methane and carbon dioxide), observation geometry parameters, and quicklook/overlay images.

GEMx is a joint campaign between NASA and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to map portions of the western United States for critical minerals using advanced airborne imaging. This five-year research project focuses on collecting measurements over arid and semi-arid regions of the U.S., including parts of California, Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico.

More information on these datasets and others like them can be found on the GEMx campaign landing page.
